Poetry Project: Jean-Marc Desgent, November 13, 2008

Jean-Marc Desgent (Montreal, 1951) has published 18 books of poetry since 1974, for which he has won numerous prizes. He won the Grand Prix de Poésie du Festival International de Trois-Rivières twice, once for Vingtièmes siècles, which also won the Governor General’s Award and Prix Estuaire des Terrasses Saint-Sulpice, and was translated into Spanish. In Fall 2008, Twentieth Centuries (English translation by Daniel Sloate) will appear from Guernica Editions. Desgent is critically acclaimed as one of the most moving and performative voices Quebec poetry.
