Born in 1948, poet, playwright and novelist Louise Cotnoir has published over 15 books. Her poetry collections include Dis-moi que j'imagine (Noroît, 1996, nominated for the Governor General’s Award and the Prix Alain-Grandbois de l'Académie des lettres du Québec) and Les îles (Noroît, 2005, nominated for the Governor General’s Award). Her novel La déconvenue(1993) was nominated for the Prix Desjardins and the Alfred-DesRochers prize, while Carnet américain (2003) received second prize in the Prix Alain-Grandbois in 2003.
