Alex K PatersonAlex K. Paterson, the eminent lawyer, community leader and author of My Life at the Bar and Beyond, was the guest of honour.Distinguished journalist Dennis Trudeau was the emcee and the Dave Turner Jazz Trio provided sensational music.

The Library’s beautiful building was softly lit, thanks to the work of lighting designer James Douglas with lamps and lights loaned by Union Electric. Alain Simon provided stunning floral arrangements. Guests enjoyed elegant and tasty hors d’oeuvres catered by Jill Hannaford of Market Squares and also copious quantities of Dunn’s Famous smoked meat.  A fabulous array of goods and services was on offer in a silent auction, including framed autographed prints of Aislin cartoons. Terry Mosher was among the 250+ guests who turned out for a fun party in support of the Library.

This annual fundraising gala generates revenue that is vital for the organization’s community educational and cultural programs

 The 2010 Benefit Cocktail Party took place at the Library on Wednesday, November 4 and was a tremendous success. Guest of Honour Oliver Jones thrilled the crowd with a virtuoso performance of several jazz favourites. Emcee Dennis Trudeau expertly guided the proceedings and Atwater Library President Ellen Bounsall thanked everyone who contributed and praised the Library’s staff and volunteers. The revenue raised is essential for the Library’s much-used community educational and social programs.
