Volunteer

We’re a community library open to everyone that depends heavily on volunteers to run many of our services. What you give is priceless. What you get is an opportunity to make a difference, be part of a community that cares and come into contact with interesting, engaging and very committed people.

We’re seeking new volunteers for the following roles:

Computer Centre help desk duty — Weekly three-hour shifts. Duties include checking in and giving light guidance to clients using computers, printing and scanning documents, and making photocopies.

CELI Project — Helping individuals gain confidence and skills to find a job. Topics include using LinkedIn, writing CVs and cover letters, and preparing for interviews.

Digital coaching
 — Occasional two- or three-hour stints providing one-on-one help at our periodic Digital Help Hubs as part of a team of volunteers working with our staff.

Circulation desk duty — Weekly three-hour shifts. Duties include greeting and giving information to visitors and callers, assisting borrowing members, and checking out books and DVDs.

Home delivery service — Occasional visits to home-bound clients in nearby downtown Montreal to deliver and retrieve books and DVDs.

Gardening — Seasonal planting of annuals, perennials and bulbs, plus weeding.
