Downtown Home Delivery Service

In March 2010, the Atwater Library was pleased to launch a delivery service for downtown residents who are living with a loss of autonomy. Canadian Heritage and the Borough of Ville-Marie provided start-up funding.

We are hoping to combat the isolation of homebound people and foster intergenerational friendships by having young volunteers provide friendly visits and entertainment in the form of books, magazines, DVDs and books on tape. Our team of volunteers can help select appropriate Atwater Library materials, and deliver them to the client’s home by foot, bike, car or public transit. If you or anybody you know may be interested in this service or in volunteering, please call Roxann Fournier-Hoyt at 514-935-7344.

There’s a wonderful story on our home delivery service in the February 2011 issue of QWrite, the newsletter of the Quebec Writers’ Federation: Home Delivery Service_QWrite_Feb2011.
